INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENT GROUPS

Industry Development Groups are a major focus of AIMIA activity and form the core of our efforts in industry development - they are responsible for the positioning, promotion and development of the industry or sector they represent. The Stakeholder Groups are driven by AIMIA members from within the relevant sector of the digital media industry.

The typical issues and opportunities that Industry Development Groups cover includes, but are not limited to:

  • General industry development opportunities in that sector
  • Standards
  • Metrics and measurement
  • Intellectual property and DRM
  • Liaison with industry groups overseas
  • Ownership of the relevant category at the AIMIA Awards
  • Advising the AIMIA board and member base on issues and opportunities related to the sector
  • Develop relationships with associated industry bodies and government
  • Consumer research and education

AIMIA's existing Industry Development Groups are:

  • Mobile Industry Group
  • Retail Industry Group
  • Digital Policy Group

Industry Development Groups also conduct industry research and formulate strategy and policy for dissemination to the AIMIA Board, AIMIA members, Government, and the broader business community.

AIMIA's role in supporting the IDG's is to provide AIMIA members with the structure and assistance that enables them to help shape the specific industry or sector they work in. AIMIA provides the IDG with a framework for operation, linkage with other AIMIA Stakeholder Groups and the Industry Development Programmes, and distribution of Stakeholder Group outcomes to the Interactive Media Industry and the broader business community. Where applicable, AIMIA also provides administrative and research support.

The success of all of the industry development activities planned relies on the support of AIMIA Members, Patrons and Sponsors.
